That Time Of Year Again - Yes, Girl Scout Cookie Time

As you will all soon learn I am a HUGE health freak. I eat only fruits, vegetables, and even peanut butter made with the simplest ingredients, such as peanuts and honey. I am a vegetarian who recently had to basically go vegan because of a new lactose intolerance issue. Yogurts and cheese were my life, but that's all in the past now. Not only am I super freaky about the foods I eat, but about being very active and fit as well. In fact, my goal career is to be a personal trainer/nutritionist. I exercise for an hour or more every day, sometimes twice a day. I wasn't always this way either. In 2014 I made it my New Years Resolution to become healthier and lose weight. I unlike most of us, take those resolutions very seriously. I was successful in losing 20 pounds, dropping almost 3 pant sizes, and completely changing the way I ate and lived.

Anyways, all that excessive and unnecessary information being said, it is now the middle of April and our town finally received it's girl scout cookies (there was a huge back order issue and they were like 3 weeks late in being delivered but who is going to complain, you can only buy them once a year). Samoa's are my absolute favorite cookie of all time too, and although I try my hardest to limit my sugar intake, (because a healthy person doesn't eat junk food! Well this one does way more than she'd like too) in 3 days time I managed to eat an entire box of those darn cookies. It doesn't help much with the fact that my mom ordered me 3 boxes... She's always trying to fatten me up. Like with brownies as well;.I could eat an entire pan of brownies to myself, no problem, and she takes full advantage of that fact. Totally wandering off topic now.

I guess I'm just curious as to how others out there succeed in straying away from all the sugary goodness out there? That's still my biggest struggle, not cheating on my healthy diet (as in the type of foods I normally eat and enjoy). Avoiding chocolate chip cookies (especially oatmeal chocolate chip cookies), brownies, and those dang Samoa's is seriously my flaw and hardest task. Thankfully, the cookies only come around once a year.

*On a side note, that resolution was the best decision I've made for myself. I feel so much healthier, in shape, energetic, upbeat, and alive.
                                    Then (2012)           now (2015)

Don't Judge A Book By Its Shitty Movie

I haven't been on this website since my Junior year in high school when our English teacher made us create these profiles for our class. I've decided I have a lot to say about a lot of things, I'm a fairly opinionated person, and I think getting it all out could be both beneficial to me and fun. That being said, lets blog!

I want to start my first official post as an adult, out of high school, blogging for fun, talking about a trilogy of books I recently finished. Nothing super special, just The Fifty Shades of Grey trilogy. There are numerous articles and critics adding fuel to the fire about how "terrible" these books are and how they try to justify "abuse" and "masochistic/sadistic" behavior. This behavior is defined as a tendency to derive sexual gratification from being physically or emotionally abused. A sadist is just someone who receives sexual gratification from causing pain to others. I can see where people are coming from because Mr. Grey  refers to himself as a dominant, which is a more gentle word meaning sadist.

Now if you've read the books and are not basing your opinion on the trilogy from the movie alone, then you get more insight into how arousing some of the acts actually sound. Only in the first book/movie (which at this point there is only one movie that has been released, its up in the air as to whether or not they will continue making the movies) does Christian even get slightly "violent" with the main character Anastasia and honestly its only because she literally begged him to show her his worst punishment. After all that goes down and she leaves him it completely changes him as a person and she practically has to beg him to do anything dominant/submissive again, although she never really did become an actual submissive of his.

Basically the point I want to make from all of this would be that you should get all the facts (like reading all the books and not just watching a damn movie) before causing a world war based from sides and opinions. You either liked the story or you didn't, but there was definitely so much more to the story than just what one movie decided to tell.

Personally I enjoyed the books. It taught me about a lifestyle I never knew actually existed (and it does) and to a certain extent, it even got me a bit curious and  into experimenting a little more with different things. I'm not saying I want to become a submissive or get whipped with leather flogs but some things described in the book were described as causing major pleasure so they couldn't have been all too bad.

AOW "Five Myths About Earthquakes"

I have never experianced an earthquake, or been around an area that has. That being said if an earthquake ever did hit Michigan i would not know what to do. FEMA says that if you happen to be inside you should always stay low, stay away from windows, and take cover. If you happen to be outside in the time of an earthquake you need to stay outside and move away from buildings. You are luckiest if you are outside near an open field, then you are in the least possible harm you could be in. My family could better prepare ourselves by making sure our house is hazardous free, by moving heavy things lower to the ground. We could also make sure we are prepared for a fire if one were to break out. Having an extinguisher handy and ready to use, and checking our wiring. We would need to make a plan too, with things like, where a safe place to go would be, making and keeping a safety kit near by, and create a contact plan. They say using cell phones during the time of an earthquake is not very reliable so walky talkies would work best. I would have never known what to do during the time of an earthquake if i never would have done research on it. I am now informed and i can inform my family so we are prepared and can safely survive and earthquake.

"The Second Coming" by William Butler Yeats

I thought that this poem related to the book The Lord Of The Flies, because to me the poem was about being stranded. The poem is about men turning into savages when things are out of control and confusing. Things start to fall apart without order. Like in the book, Ralph is still trying to hold onto order when Jack and the others have clearly lost it and bad things start to happen. Hunting became so important because the saveage in the boys came out. Just when you think something good might happen, it disappers before you even realize it was coming. The ship past and everyone got excited, but it wasnt until after the ship left sight that the boys realized the fire was out. There was no way the ship could have seen them. The poem symbolizes the beast in us, the book also has a hidden meaning of the beast in us. Savage is the beast in us, the beast emerges when we are without normal society around us. Human nature is a scary thing without order. That is how the poem relates to the book, in my eyes.
